A custom modular lid engineered for an existing charcoal container, featuring a precision-fit mounting skirt, hinged refill hatch, sliding gate dispenser, and an integrated fold-down carry handle.

Project overview
This project focused on developing a functional, modular lid replacement for an existing charcoal storage container, improving material handling, controlled dispensing, and seal performance.
Retrofitting an aftermarket lid requires tight dimensional tracking to existing rim profiles while engineering multiple moving mechanisms (hinges, sliding gates, and a folding handle) that remain easily printable.
Developed in SolidWorks, the CAD assembly prioritizes mechanical clearances, modularity, and additive manufacturing constraints. Blender was used to generate presentation-grade renders highlighting the mechanical features.
A complete engineering package delivered with 2D drawings and production-ready 3D files (STEP, STL, 3MF) prepared for functional prototyping and production evaluation.
