From a brief to a model
DEVELOP3D reported on 5 October 2026 that Formas.AI had previewed Cartesian, a platform for early product, furniture, and architectural design. The report says a project can start from sketches, photos, written briefs, or existing models.
The company says designers will be able to work with requirements and relationships as a concept develops, instead of ending with a single generated image.
Can the model be edited and handed off?
Cartesian is built around its own geometry kernel and toolkit for AI agents, according to the report. It describes tools for creating and revising solids and surfaces, editable assemblies and components, and integrations with Rhino and Blender.
For product teams, the useful test is whether the geometry stays editable and can move into the engineering tools they already use. That matters more than a convincing first render.
It’s still a preview
DEVELOP3D described Cartesian as a preview and said wider access was planned from 31 October 2026. Availability and features can change, so check the current release details with Formas.AI.
Any generated concept still needs an engineer to review dimensions, loads, materials, manufacturing limits, safety, and intellectual-property requirements before it is used as a design deliverable.
